DESCRIPTION:Click to View Exhibition Art  \nThe Jaffrey Civic Center is very excited to present our Annual Fall Show. This exhibition will run September 26– November 1. There will be an opening reception on Friday\, September 26 from 5 – 7 pm with light refreshments\, drinks\, and a chance to meet and converse with the artists! \nThis exhibition gathers diverse artistic voices\, each offering a unique interpretation of impermanence. Some works may capture the delicate beauty of nature’s transitions\, while others may explore the metaphorical “seasons” of human life—moments of growth\, change\, loss\, and renewal. Together\, these interpretations remind us that impermanence is both inevitable and essential: it is what gives meaning to beauty\, poignancy to memory\, and vitality to the present moment. Visitors are encouraged to look closely and consider how each piece connects to the theme\, discovering their own interpretations along the way. \nThe theme ‘Interpretations of a Season’s Impermanence’ invites artists and viewers to reflect on the fleeting\, ever-changing nature of time. Just as the seasons move in cycles—blossoms give way to fruit\, leaves turn and fall\, snow melts into spring—our own experiences\, emotions\, and perspectives shift and transform. \nArtists: Phil Bean\, Martha Behrens-Temple\, Carole A. SUMMARY:Display Cases: Roz Park "A Collection of Work"
DESCRIPTION:The Jaffrey Civic Center is very excited to share with the public ‘A Collection of Work’ by Roz Park.  \nThis exhibition will run September 26– November 1.  \nThere will be an opening reception on Friday\, September 26 from 5 – 7 pm with light refreshments\, drinks\, and a chance to meet and converse with the artist!  \nRoz’s work transcends object’s innate qualities by making unexpected combinations that are nothing short of Poetry. \nRoz Park lives in an upstairs apartment that she also uses as her studio. “I like living closely with the things that I make and collect. My environment determines the size of what I can do\, I might make large assemblages living in a large space!” Living in N.YC. in the 70’s and 80’s as a young person\, was the education that Park had been looking for\, coming from a small New England town. Assemblage and collage\, but also painting\, whatever the materials\, hopefully reveals something that is worth sharing. For her\, beauty is an antidote to all that is difficult. Park says\, “I like the photographer Robert Adams’ comment\, “Even though art is always imperfect\, successful art rediscovers beauty for us.”

SUMMARY:WORKSHOP: Let’s Beat Diabetes Workshop with Dr. Nora E. Hanke
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 1 from 2 – 4 pm \nAt least 15% of US adults have diabetes\, and more than 1/3 have pre-diabetes\, about 1 in 10 of whom will develop full-blown diabetes within a year. Though managing diabetes is often the goal presented by medical professionals\, diabetes can be prevented and for many people even reversed by diet and lifestyle changes. This interactive\, 2-hour class introduces the knowledge\, tools\, and lifestyle strategies that help individuals reduce their risk of developing diabetes\, and to feel better and reduce the need for medication even after it has been diagnosed. Your instructor is physician Dr. Nora E. Hanke\, who will present information from the Physicians Committee’s Food For Life curriculum’s Diabetes Initiative series. We will have discussion\, view an educational video\, there will be cooking demonstrations\, and everyone gets to taste dishes that help us prevent and fight diabetes. Participants go home with written materials including the recipes. \nThe intended audience are people wishing to prevent or reverse diabetes\, and their family and friends. Even those with type 1 diabetes can benefit from this class. All materials included!

We will discuss composition\, underpainting techniques (dry vs wet)\, and the use of different papers to achieve the best result. \nIn this session we will explore some mixed media underpainting. Focus will be on rendering texture\, using complimentary colors\, and studying composition. If you have sanded pastel paper or Clairfontaine Pastel Mat please bring it to class. Otherwise\, you can purchase it from me for $5/sheet. Bring what soft pastels that you have. DESCRIPTION:Jaffrey Civic Center is hosting the Palette of Prestige: Pastel Society of NH Signature Members exhibition November 7-December 20th\, with an Opening Reception on November 15\, 2025 at 5-7 pm. This exhibition of pastel features award winning artists that belong to the Pastel Society of New Hampshire. Featured artists include: Sharon Boisvert\, Terri Brooks\, Carol Corliss\, Keith Demanche\, Mary Ann Eldred\, Wolfgang Ertl\, Joelle Feldman\, Paula Fraser\, Susanne Larkham\, Shuk Susan Lee\, Mena Levit\, Maryann Mullett\, Lisa Regopoulos. This exhibition is a unique blend of work in soft pastel including a variety of subject matter including landscape\, animals and nocturnes. There are twenty-five pieces in the show\, all of which are for sale. This show features award winning artists\, some of which are Master Circle Members of IAPS (International Association of Pastels)\, Pastel Society of America members\, and have been featured in art magazines and have received awards in the highly competitive Pastel 100 Art Magazine Competition.

DESCRIPTION:Create block print designs and repeating patterns to make unique\, one-of-a-kind textiles. Carve block stamps\, play with color and composition\, and print directly onto a tea towel. For both beginners and experienced printers\, we will learn the basics of designing in repeat and experiment with patterns.
