The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to announce a new ongoing pastel class every month taught by local artist, Maryann Mullett. May classes will begin Tuesday, May 8th, and will meet every Tuesday from 1 pm to 4 pm for 4 weeks. The theme for May will be “Painting Animals with Pastel”. Every month will focus on a different theme. The cost of the class is $120. Art has always been part of Maryann’s life. She worked in graphic arts and illustration for Yankee Magazine and surrounding publishing companies. In 1992 she started Harvest Thyme Herbs which allowed her creativity to extend to product design and marketing. Eight years ago she was introduced to the pastel medium at the Art Spectrum Group in Antrim. Since this time she has focused solely on pastels and fine art. Inspiration comes in close-up views of luscious fruit and vegetables, their colors and textures capturing the light making alluring compositions. She paints still life, floral, nature, birds and wildlife as her subjects.

Maryann is a Signature member of the Pastel Societies of America, New Hampshire and Maine, and an Associate member of the Pastel Societies of Connecticut and Cape Cod. She is also a member of the Newburyport Art Association. She has been published in Artist’s Magazine and Pastel Journal Magazine. To register for the class, contact the Jaffrey Civic Center.
