The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to present “Clay, Steel, Ink, and Paint,” an exhibition featuring Kim and Scott Cunningham on view from August 1 through September 12, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 5 – 8 PM, offering visitors an opportunity to meet the artists, experience the work in person, and enjoy light refreshments.
This exhibition moves freely between two and three dimensions. Kim makes intricate hand-colored block prints and collages, often using parts of her prints to bring an idea into focus. She also uses her block print plates to print into soft clay, making ceramic pieces with unusual graphic effects. Scott’s steel sculpture is forged and welded using many old time blacksmithing techniques. His drawings make use of hot metal burned into paper with black ink overlay. His colorful paintings are made using multiple layers of casein (milk) paint on board.
Kim and Scott are former Co-Directors of the Jaffrey Civic Center, and the upstairs Gallery is named after them. They live in an owner-built house with two separate studios, surrounded by a large field with many ceramic and steel sculptures.
The Jaffrey Civic Center is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, Wednesday through Friday, 12:00 – 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
