WORKSHOP: Food for a Healthy Heart with Dr. Nora E. Hanke

Saturday, May 2 from 12 – 2 pm

Healthy plant-based diets benefit cardiovascular health because they contain no dietary cholesterol, minimal saturated fat, and abundant fiber. A plant-based diet can also help improve major risk factors for vascular disease including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes and diabetes, atherosclerosis and inflammation. Eating this way has even been shown to reverse heart disease!

This 2hr. class features a video lecture, discussion, and the opportunity to taste plant-based dishes following cooking demonstrations. It provides an excellent overview of plant-based foods for a healthy cardiovascular system. Your instructor will be Dr Nora E. Hanke, a physician and licensed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Food for Life instructor. She will point attendees to resources for adopting a low-fat, plant-based diet.

According to previous local participants, “It is totally worth it!”; “Very well done and you get dinner/lunch.”

Registration 2 days before the workshop is required.
