The Jaffrey Civic Center is proud to present this extraordinary exhibition: Louise McCagg (1936 – 2020) // A woman’s exploration of the human figure. The exhibition runs from June 27 – August 2. Opening reception on Friday, June 27 from 5 – 7 pm.
Louise McCagg is an artist who didn’t shy away from challenges. Rather, she is one who confronted difficult material and difficult techniques and in so doing created her most powerful work. “As an artist of a generation that saw feminist art proliferate, my work is classical in method and contemporary in its political and social inquiry. I exhibit my work as freestanding sculptures, friezes, books, and as masks created for theatrical performances” (Louise McCagg, Artist’s Statement).
